Website help?

I created my own site because the so called professional website designer and I were always disagreeing what should on it. Can you give me some critique to improve it? I am using Yahoo Site Builder. The site is www.PrenticeHomes.ca. Thanks in advance!

Website help?

1) the look of this site is messy, every page the layout looks different. the align is not consistence and is like putting bits and pieces together at anywhere you like.

suggestion:

- the links can follow the logo placement, so that the align for teh logo and links is straight.

- at the below, the images and footer, can start at where the align of the links end. or either stretch right from left to right, the whole bottom part is for footer and the copyright message.

- for the link : %26quot;Email Kevin Prentice%26quot; and %26quot; CREEMORE IN

WIKIPEDIA%26quot;, you can put them right below the main links.

2) best not to have horizontal scrol bar. Try to keep your site size to 750 x 420(for screen resolution 800*600) , 950 x 600 (for screen resolution 1024*768),

3) place your content in tables, so that the align is consistence through out the pages.

4) usually the links are follow in the manner:

about the company, service, products, contact us

-use sublinks if necessary.

5) if the page layout is going to be different as others, it is better to open the page in a new window.

as a web head, i prefer a permanent navigation bar at the top of the page that doesnt move when you scroll down.

Although most of your visitors will not see the navigation bar, it may still be worthwhile providing one for those few of your visitors who are using browsers that do support it. The code required to make use of the navigation bar is not very complicated and can easily be added to any or all of your web pages. This web page (as an example) contains the following code in the %26lt;head%26gt; section of the page source to define some links that will appear on the navigation bar in those browsers that support it.

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;home%26quot; href=%26quot;index.html%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;index%26quot; href=%26quot;site.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;glossary%26quot; href=%26quot;gloss.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;copyright%26quot; href=%26quot;disc.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;author%26quot; href=%26quot;about.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;made%26quot; href=%26quot;about.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;help%26quot; href=%26quot;ask.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;contents%26quot; href=%26quot;index.html%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;first%26quot; href=%26quot;whatsnew.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;up%26quot; href=%26quot;net2.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;prev%26quot; href=%26quot;htmlt44.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;section%26quot; href=%26quot;net2.htm%26quot; /%26gt;

hope this helps

Other Replys:my husband says its too wide and is troublesome when trying to read. Color scheme is awkward. Some pages have improper alignment. He actually builds websites. He said if you%26#039;d like some assistance visit his website

c-c-concepts.net

Hope this helps :)

Other Replys:1. The home page is a bit too wide. I assume you have a large monitor. Even on my 17%26quot; monitor (res 1280x1024) horizontally it doesn%26#039;t fit completely. Try targeting a resolution of 1024x768 (a few people are still using 800x600). Simply put, check how it looks on a smaller monitor.

2. The brownish/gold font on the dark red background is a bit tiring on the eyes. Try a slightly lighter font.

3. There is no way to return to the welcome page

4. Try to stick with the same fonts and font size on your various pages. Also similar or logical layouts and colours will give your site a more consistent feel

5. Yahoo Site Builder may limit the type of site you can build
